Can You Help With Algerbra 1 Questions (fairly difficult)?

These two problems are part of a month long assignment that my teacher gave. We have never done anything similar to them in class, and I am at a loss of how to solve them. Help with either or both of them would be much appriecated (please explain your work)! 1. If the absolute value of x-3 is equal to k and k is greater than or equal to zero, which of the following is true? a. x=k-3 b. x=k+3 c. x= k + and - 3 d. x= 3 + and - k e. x= -3 + and - k 2. 24-6x ---------- x^2-5x+4 divided by 12x^2-3 ------------ 2x^2-x-1 I hope that last problem makes sense. :)

Question about integration..?

Asked By: johnglicer
Thanks for everyone who participated in my last question,, as you can see, I had another confused state about integrating, and these are the following. NOte: all problems were started of an integral sign 1. (x+1)dx/x^2 I find that general power rule does not apply, does it? or perhaps there are other ways.. then the following,, includes upper and lower limits,, I know the steps how to solve but Im question wheter it will be udu or du/u 1. upper limits= 1 lower limits= 0 (1/(x+1)) - 1/(x-2))dx my answer is ln|1+1|-ln|0+2| or simply ln2-ln2 is this correct? if not! pls show me the correct way.. 2. upper limits= e lower limits= 1 lnxdx/x my answer in this one is ln | lne - ln1 | is this correct? if not! pls show me the correct way.. Im only a beginner when solving this kind of problem,, pls dont mad at me,, hope you guys can help me out in this one..
