I am trying to change the starter in my toyota 4-runner. I got the old one off but cant get it out of the space it is in. The only thing I can see is to re,ove the exhaust manufold to get it out. Is this normal? Any other ideas?
Thanks.
It just randomly stopped lighting up (when my headlights are on at night). Everything else on the board works (the cd player, radio buttons, etc.) but the clock....It's not a huge deal, just annoying when I want to know what time it is when it's dark out. I can read it during the daytime. I thought maybe it was a fuse, but the owner's manual said there's one fuse for the whole board. It's also not the dimmer button on the dash--everything else would be dim, too, and it's bright. I doubt it's relevant, but it started the day after I got an oil change...
I drained the old engine coolant out and put radiator flush /cleaner in and let it cycle then I drained it out and put nothing but water in and cycled that. Finally i added the engine. I didn't take off the thermostat do you think i could run into problems? The temp gauge in the car was normal maybe a little high but it was okay. Thanks

The part on the left is what I pulled off the car, and the part on the right is the one I got from the salvage yard. The mounting bolts and belt wheels are in the same location but they just look really different.
(Other than the hose still being connected to slavage yard part on the right) The tag on the salvage yard part has the same specs as my car, I'm just not sure why the parts look different. My guess is the one on the left was a cheap replacement part and the one on the right was a factory part. I just want someone to confirm this.
