Is it true that the clutch on a stick shift never disengages 100%?

Asked By: MTLTV1765
I was in some sites that say that it is better for the clutch to put the car in neutral and leave the clutch engaged at a red light than it is to put the car in gear and hold the clutch in. One person I have asked said that the clutch plates are always rubbing slightly even if the clutch pedal is pressed in 100%. Is this true, or is some other harm being done to the clutch by holding the pedal in while at at a red light?

So the only way I can get about 100 MPG is to buy a car that is $80,000 or at least in the upper $40,000?

Asked By: heliflyer_2007
Give me a 100 MPG car priced around $20,000 and you'll have something great. It's us poor folk that cannot afford gas and we are sometimes commuting a few hours, or less or more!
