A while back I came across what I considered extremely important news and wanted to let national TV news channels know, most specifically thinking of CNN or even MSNBC, but could not find anywhere I could "click" for lets say "news tips", "contact us", "urgent news", or similar. It may sound silly but there are some things sometimes people feel better telling it to news mediums than police or other authorities.
Why? Well because news people are always willing to hear and listen to what you can explain to them in an intelligent way. Most of the time authorities tend to make their own judgement without you finishing your story. Or worse yet cut you off telling you "let proper authorities handle it".
I have no idea how any news channel would have reacted to what I thought was something odd and a bit complicated, thus making it important in the world situation we now have. But just in case I come across something like that I want to tell someone immediatedly, in strict confidence.
I have been aganozing the past couple months over what I want to do with my life. I finnally narrowed it down to something that involves a lot of writing. I love writing, and it has always been a true passion of mine. This, of course, means I have basically narrowed it down to journalism, PR, creative writing, or technical writing. I am afraid that PR or technical writing may be too dull for me, and let's face it, creative writing is not something I can depend on, so I am looking more and more at journalism.
Does anyone know about the industry as of right now? I have heard that it is hard to get into becuase news papers and all print media are faultering, and on the otherhand it is good to go into because the world still needs journalists and not many people are going into it. Also, just how hard is it to break into? Is anyone a PR or technical writer that loves it, or do you know someone who does? Is it as boring as I think it may be? Thanks for your help.
I'm doing a poster on the Supression of the Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and i have to put a picture and information for Who, what, when, where and why. for who i put the flag of the IAEA; for what i put this picture of an explosion-caused cloud with an X on top; and for why i put a picture of this big red cloud caused by an explosion.
I have no idea what i can put for When (i was thinking of a picture of hiroshima, but i cant find any good ones), or for Where...any ideas?
