Do it for them. I floss my kids teeth for them (8, 6, 4). As they age, I'll let them. But right now its a big deal just to make sure they are doing it, especially when their mouth is small and crammed full of teeth. For brushing, we get a fun kids toothpaste that they like and I sing a silly song a few times during brushing. They think its fun and don't give me fits about the actual brushing.

we made it fun and though it was messy it instilled the basic idea in them..we used large pieces hanging from their mouth to learn how to tie shoes...allow them to hang things on the ends. ... and i only did this number once we dipped the floss in food coloring ..they still talk about that one! what a mess but they loved it one had blue all over the other yellow you can also use the point system.. you floss another 2 points then when you reach 10 you receive a chance to win have a bag of folded papers and certain ones receive a prize... the dollar store is great for that have them wrapped and in a large bag and let them pick one
