dont feel like an idiot, i think i can help u. FIRST, the idea is to get the t by itself. So u want mutiply, the 8 on the other side by -1. Thefore it will be left with (t-4)= -8. then just add the four over. Giving u t is equal to -4.

1/(t-4)=8 multiply both sides by t-4 1=8(t-4) disreibute 8 1=8t-32 add 32 to each side 33=8t divide both sides by 8 t=33/8=4 1/8=4.125

if the problem is supposed to be -1/(t-4)=8, then multiply each side by (t-4) to get -1=8t-32. Add 32 to each side and get 31=8t. t=31/8.

t = -1/12 (negative one-twelfth). Here's how: -1/t-4 = 8 add 4 to both sides, now you have -1/t = 12 multiply both sides by t, now you have -1 = 12t divide both sides by 12, now you have -1/12 = t

-1/(t-4)=8 Clear the fraction -1=8(t-4)=8t-32 Solve fot t 8t=32-1=31 t=31/8 Isn't algebra fun!

- 1 = 8(t - 4) -1 = 8t - 32 31 = 8t t = 31/8 t = 3(7/8)
