Is it possible to 'hear' light? Yes! You need one small solar cell, one small battery operated audio amplifier, one input jack for the amplifier and two 6" lengths of low gauge wire (one black one red). Solder Iron and solder. Solder the the wire to the the + - poles of the solar cell and the other ends of the to the input jack. Plug the input jack into the audio amplifier. Now take the contraption outside and wait for the sunrise. Or if can't wait for the sunrise, turn on a light and see what happens. It works! Believe it or not Bell invented the process before he invented the Telephone! Love Bruce Toronto Canada P.S. Be extremely careful with the soldering Iron, cause man it gets HOT! HOT! HOT! See if you can get an adult to do the soldering for you!

how about an automated water sprinkler? all you need is a couple of transistors a motor, a relay and of course a water source. as you know (or dont) water is a slight conductor of electricity and we can use this fact to make the sprinkler automated. connect the transistor base to a 'seeker' in the ground to be water and a little distance from the collector lead and connect the emmiter lead to a relay switch which is in turn connected to a motor coupled to the tap. when the ground is wet, a small current flows in the base of the transistor and keeps the relay switch open and the motor stationary. when dry, no current flows and thus the relay closes turning the motor which opnes the tap which wets the ground which activates the transistor which turns off the motor........ you get my drift. if anyone has anything to add feel welcome.

http://www.ehow.com/how_18637_make-potato-clock.html If you want to make a potato clock here's how. You can also show how water is absorbed into a plant. Get a Carnation with a long stem, With a razor blade, being very careful, or a sharp knife, split the stem up within a few inches of the bloom. Put two glasses of water side by side one with one color of food coloring and the other with a different color. Place one half of the stem into color one and the other half stem into color two. Let it set awhile. Eventually, one side of the carnation will be tinted one color and the other side the other color. You could also make a soap powered boat. http://pbskids.org/zoom/activities/phenom/soappoweredboat.html
