For those who have had gastric bypass?

Hi. I was wondering if anyone out there has suffered with a higher amount of infections since their Gastric bypass? I have been having a lot of bladder infections, and I cannot figure out why. thanks

Tommy, Although the surgery has great benefit's for many.. some do have complications.. including increased risk of infections... why?? Because you are no longer absorbing as many nutrient's as your body needs... Talk to the doc about the following things... best vitamins to be taking.. because after bypass surgery you SHOULD be taking an excellent multi vitamin.... having some blood test's run to check your immune system... and also iron level's.. many people AFTER bypass have an awful time with their immune systems.... Good luck!

This is one surgery I have been against since they started enmass doing them back in the 70s. I have a friend who had this done for medical reasons and she has had a horrible time the last 2 1/2 years with one infection after another. Everytime she turns around, she has another health issue to deal with and has been hospitalized several times. It helped her in other ways but the infections just don't seem to quit. One thing you might want to do is drink cranberry juice and lots of water, good for both the kidneys and bladder, and try to leave other drinks alone for a while until it clears up. You might also want to start taking 8 to 10 Garlic Capsules every day to help ward off infection and see if that helps. Good luck

chance is there since a natural acid ph is byepassed. another reason is fluid absorption is less in byepassee. try a lot of fluids to avoid getting uti.
