Umm mouse the Sunfire and Cavalier are not the longest production runs. In fact until some time in the 90's the Pontiac version of the Cavalier was the Sunbird and in fact they aren't even the longest produced cars by GM that goes to the Corvette which has been in production 54 years. And the Ford Crown Victoria's been around a long time since some time in the 50's I think, although the Mustang's been around for 43 years.

I would go with a tie between the Jeep and the VW beetle. Both were first produced around the time of WW2. There have been many old names of cars that have been brought back -resurected from the dead. But when you look at the body style of today as compared to what they originally looked like, they are not the same at all. Simply the same name on a new car. The Jeep and the VW Beetle have both somewhat kept the original body style they first had in the early days.

If it's trucks, it's actually the Chevy Suburban, which goes back to the 30's Passenger cars: I'm pretty sure it's the Corvette. The Town Car dates back to the 20's, but has been interrupted several times.

Hi, as Randall says, the VW beetle was the longest running and highest seller of all when it stopped...but it didn't stop! The model is still made, under licence, in Brazil and has been made there for many years. So without doubt it is the Volkswagon Beetle. 1946-present. Cheers, BobSpain

I'd have to say GM (General Motors) is the longest and most successful car/truck manufacturer in the world. The longest vehicle ever produced from them are the sunfires and cavaliers (10 years) They just changed the models 2 years ago, to the Cobalt and Pursuit.
