Slightly Anemic and trying to conceive..Will this affect my chances?

I was told that I have low iron when I tried to give blood a year ago. I rarely eat fruits and vegatable and I dont take iron pills, so im sure my iron is still low. Will this affect my chances of conceiving or will it make pregnancy a little more unpleasant for me. I almost NEVER get dizzy but yesterday I had dizzy spells all day. Im not sure if it is from low iron, pregnancy, or both. Im only 3 or 4 days past ovulation. Has anyone else expeirenced this problem? Please help...

I'm Anemic, I knew I was pregnant the same day I had sex. Now that I'm pregnant I'm dizzy all day. Sometimes I feel like leaving work to go home and sleep, but I have to be strong. If your doctor gives you iron pills I would take them.

Hey Pregy. are u sure that u r really pregnant? Just 3-4 days past ovulation doesn't mean u have conceived. Have your expected date of menstruation crossed? Have u checked for urine pregnancy test to be positive? If all r positive, then only U can be stamped as pregnant. next come the question of anemia. What is your recent blood Hemoglobin level? Please first do a blood test for Hb%. If the level is below 11gm/dl, then u r mild anemic. If it is <10gm/dl then moderate anemia and if < 7 then severe. It is true that as pregnancy advances, chances of having iron deficiency anemia increases, as the demand of iron for the baby's growth is essential. But dizziness at early pregnancy is common & that is not because of anemia but because of pregnancy or it even may be because of too hot weather. If u r truly pregnant, get Hb% done & start taking iron orally provided from 3rd month onward. Syrup Globiron (an iron tonic) is having nice flavor and platable so u can take it. But must consult your Doctor first.

When your iron is really low I do think it can interfere with you getting pregnant. When I got pregnant my iron was just alittle low, but I had to take iron pills plus prenatal pills. But before I got pregnant the first time my iron was really low and I was constantly passing out,or always sleepy. Me and my fiance were trying to conceive but it never happened. As soon as I was put on iron pills like a month or two later I found out that I was pregnant. But if you have concerns you should check with your doctor though, because low iron can affect the baby.

Start taking prenatal vitamins now. Many women have low Iron when they are pregnant and it can harm the baby. So remedy it now instead of waiting for it to get worse. Eat Iron rich foods like dark leafy greens and make sure to have something rich in vitamin C at the same time it increases the absorption. Also stop drinking tea, the tannins in tea makes it harder for your body to retain Iron.

first of all, you said you weren't taking iron and trying to concieve. WELL, YOU NEED TO BE ON A PRENATAL VITAMIN "BEFORE" YOU GET PREGNANT. low iron won't effect you "getting"pregnant, but it will effect the health of your baby when you do get pregnant. look this up on www.webmd.com or talk to your doc before you get pregnant. theres a lot for you to know before it happens. taking a vitamin can reduce the chances, in a lot of different things that could be bad for your baby. good luck in trying. I hope you follow my advice.

go to your dr and he might prescribe you something. if you are borderline and he doesnt feel your iron levels are low enough to warrant medication take prenatal vitamins. i take sanatogen pronatal which are for before during and after pregnancy and you can take them while breast feeding to. they have loads of good stuff in them. 100% of the RDA of iron plus vit d e c b1 b12 b6, calcium folic acid etc.

you really should deal with the anemia. once you become pregnant it will be harder to fix.
