Why does my drive belt squeel only when the air conditioning is running?

I installed a new belt on my jeep, but it still squeels when the a/c is going. And it only does it for about the first minute, then it goes away. Any ideas?

Best case scenario- Normally this means that the drive belt for the A/C is loose or worn. Since you installed a new belt, check the belt tension to see if it is correct. Buy a belt dressing at your local parts store, and Carefully spray it on the belt while it is running with the air conditioning ON. Another possibility is the belt could be on the wrong pulley somewhere, and thus way out of alignment. If none of this works, and it is not too difficult, you may want to take the belt back, and buy one of higher quality. Worst case scenario- Your compressor may be demanding too much power, and may need serviced. Good luck.

Only about 2 things can cause this. The belt is not tightened correctly or the a/c is over charged. Master tech 40 yrs.

There is probably a family of small Albanians living in there. This happened to me once. Eventually they will die.
