Is it illegal for a police officer to tell anybody in your home why he is there to arrest you?

A police officer/Detective came to my house to arrest me on a warrant, and told my mother what I was being charged with, I wasnt home and he asked her to call my cell phone to get ahold of me, she left me a message and told me that the cops were there to arrest me for theft at walmart, later when I spoke with her she told me after she left me the message he said " oh no, you told her I told you what she was being arrested for, I wasnt suppose to tell you that", so I was wondering if that was true?

Sorry, but there is no Officer/Criminal confidentiality. I answered your other question and applaud your efforts at turning your life around, but don't waste your time and energy trying to find some way to blame the Detective for your situation.

He didn't do anything illegal, but he probably made a mistake regarding internal policy. The department probably against it to prevent situtations where the defendant gets a call such as "Jonnie the police are here to arrest you for stealing X" and then you destroy/dispose of X before the cops can arrest you.

In this case, you and the officer are both dumb. ( you for stealing and the officer for the mistake) The officer should have talked to you on the phone. He told your mom but still, nothing can and will change. He's still going to tell it to you when you are here (or on the phone with you). The difference is that then he will have to read you the Miranda rights. And by the looks of it, you are not in jail yet, that means you are a fugitive. My suggestion is to turn yourself in, get a lawyer, confess, get the lowest punishment possible until you face with resisting arrest for robbery.

As per indian law, the police has to specifically tell the ground for arresting you. It is his duty

if your arrested and not charged there can be legal remedies you can pursuit for defemation of character etc but if your charged then there is little you can do.
