What type of prayers are actually answered by God?

I've been told that I can't expect him to give me material things, money, etc. (No '67 Chevelle for me!) I've also been told that he has answered prayers for a new house, and, believe it or not, a car. He's apparently answered many, many prayers for some of the users here who had an illness, or who had a family member who was ill. But, he lets some people - kids included - die of cancer and other horrible things in spite of the prayers of many people. Exactly how should I phrase a prayer to him, for it to be effective? What's the big secret that nobody has yet told me?

The secret is in John 14:13 " Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son." Whenever I have a need or something on my heart that I go to God about, it is hard for me to look into the future and know what will glorify God. Perhaps the answer that I'm hoping for won't do it. So, I just pray that as long as God can be glorified, let my answer to this prayer come. I know it is hard to understand how the healing of an innocent child from an illness would fail to glorify God, but we don't see things through the eyes of eternity like He does. To us, there is a huge difference between living 90 years or 9 years, but to God, our lives never end and He may see the future in a way in which we can't. But one thing I know for sure. Any act of love will always glorify God.

Some situations when you would enhance the Prosperity Gua: When you need more money for something specific. When you feel like "having it all" is alluding you. When you make OK money but it seems to go out as fast as it comes in. When you want to find inner peace with what you do have. If it's money you want, then it's money you'll get if you power up the prosperity gua of your home or office. You'll find that this left-rear portion of your living space controls not only your ability to make and hold on to money, but it affects the way you actually perceive abundance. As you know, one person can feel rich, and another person can feel poor holding the same amount of money. Often it's our perceptions that we want to change as much as anything. A person who is grateful and appreciative is so much more fun to be around than an old grouch who sees the "cup as half empty." And the ch'i, or invisible energy of feng shui, knows this as well. Therefore, the person who is appreciative will have more ch'i hanging around them, which will actually attract more abundance to them. If you can understand this concept of "like attracts like," then you will easily understand how to attract more abundance into your life. If you place an item or symbol of what you perceive as "the epitome of abundance" in this part of your home, then you will be placing a physical reminder or your intention to have abundance in your life. Even if you can't decide what that symbol is, you can start the process by taking the time to clean up and organize everything in this space. This will invite fresh and invigorated ch'i to move in and start the process. I have personally created a small "sacred space" in this area of my home, which happens to be my office (a great gua for a home office!) It's fun to create little altars for holding intentions. I have strategically placed a prosperity print on the wall along with a "color fall"(see the palace gallery for more information), and a calligraphy given to me by feng shui master Professor Lin. And on my desk I have a dollar sign paperweight in the prosperity corner (yes, you can feng shui your desk too! Just use the part of your desk in front of where you sit as the career gua and go from there!) Outside in the prosperity area of my yard (you feng shui it by overlaying the bagua in the same manner as over the home. Use the driveway or sidewalk that enters the property as the side to have the career side of the bagua on it) I have the "stone water tower" from the gallery trickling all day long; inviting prosperity into my life. With these few enhancements, I have seen so many opportunities for abundance come my way. I'd love to hear how they work for you! Best Color Choice: Purple Other Good Color Choices: Red, Green and Gold Good Element Choices: Wood and Water

I have a friend who is a single mother, so she prayed for a car (not a specific type-just for transportation) and pretty soon, someone from her church GAVE her a car for FREE. So she believes God answered her prayer. Although, The car doesn't run-they don't know what is wrong with it, so they can't fix it, and even if they did, she doesn't have a drivers license. But beware of your prayers. Pride is a sin, so if you are praying for a specific type of car, it's probably related to pride, and God might not like that. But It says somewhere in the bible, that if you truly believe in him, he will provide for you. So if you believe, and pray, he might provide you with Transportation, and then God Helps them, that helps themselves, so he might provide for your BASIC need, but it's up to you to work harder to get a more specific car. For example, he might give you a pacer, or a broken down ford escort, and then YOU will have to get a job to pay for the upkeep, and insurance, while saving to buy a car that you would be more comfortable in.

Well, I know people end up having bad things happen to them, but good things at the same time. Usually people have trials and have to overcome them. They aren't sure why things work out the way they do, but usually in the end they realize why things happened the way they do. That seems to be the way with praying, sometimes ya get it sometimes ya don't. When you don't you see why later. As far as having a secret redemption code for God when you're praying, there isn't one. God knows what's in your heart - just be sincere when praying - and don't expect him to give you exactly what you asked for.

You ask, "What type of prayers are actually answered by God?" The kind that suit His purposes! We may pray for what we want, as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane. Even He said, "Give me not what I want want, Father, but what You want." We should not be upset when God seems not to answer one of our prayers. In the case of Jesus in Gethsemane, even that prayer went 'unanswered'. ETA- people who pray for big houses or fancy cars need only to look at our suffering brothers and sisters in other countries. They aren't praying for material possessions. They pray for strength ... for Bibles ... for food. We should take a page from their book and quit acting so spoiled!

look, this is how i look at it. god sits back and watches. every once in a great while he might intervene in someones life. but the vast majority of time he doesnt. how can we truly live our life if we expect help all the time whenever we ask for it. i believe and god, and jesus dont get me wrong. but our lives are what we make of them. the ones who say i prayed for a new car and god gave it to me are full of it. they saved. they steered their own destiny with maybe a stroke of luck. im pretty sure god has more important things to worry about other then, lets make sure bob over here gets his dream car. prayer gives us hope th at things will change but we cant rely on god to fix our lives for us.

I think prayers are answered but in different ways and not always for what is being asked..we only have to open our eyes and see.

The kind where you ask for things that are going to happen by chance anyway. Oh! Also, it would seem that if you pray for things like war, hunger, suffering...those types of prayers seem to be answered all the time.

All prayers that are asked according to God's will are answered. Just pray with a sincere heart and have faith. He hears your prayers. Peace.
