Widescreen monitor not receiving widescreen resolution?

Hi, I recently bought a 22" widescreen monitor from Westinghouse, I updated my GEforce FX 5500 to latest driver setting so I could use 1680x1050 resolution on my dual screen setup and now it only receives a 1280x1024 signal (which is the same as my default monitor). I really hate how the desktop scrolls because it's not receiving a proper signal, it is definitely capable of 1680x1050 because it works on my laptop. Has anyone had the same problem and can tell me how to fix it?

If you have the latest nVidia 162.18 driver, downgrade to the 94.24 one. Did the trick for me... http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_94.24.html

To my knowledge the Geforce 5500 does do more then 1440x900 and the card is pretty old, so you should really upgrade to a Geforce 7 card.

confident I actual have considered those in the previous, i think of samsung makes one. in basic terms make specific to purchase a working laptop or pc reveal screen which would be utilized for a television rater than a television to apply as a working laptop or pc reveal screen. The pixles on a working laptop or pc reveal screen are smaller so which you will examine the text fabric. in case you employ a television the text fabric and pc photographs could have jagged edges and look blury % up.
