Good Medical School?

I'm only 14, but I have always planned out my ambitions. My goals in life are to go to the University of Tennessee. I live only a few minutes away from it, so it would be convenient. I'm shooting to become a Pediatrician, but I'm not sure what medical school I should attend. Thanks!

It's been said that the best medical school is the one that accepts you. But you will also find that your best chance for being accepted is the state university in your own state. Over 70% of the accepted students at most state universities are state residents. There is also the added benefit that your own state's university will be your lowest cost school. You owe it to yourself to visit the web site put up by the Association of American Medical Colleges. They have facts and statistics, as well as answers and guidance to just about every question a potential medical student might have. Attend John Hopkins, Yale or Harvard Medical School if you can. Other great ones are Georgetown, Washington, and UCLA med schools. If you can't get into those big Ivy League hot shot schools then try a public school, like me. I could get in but chose not to cuz of the cost. That's why I chose something a little bit above average but still affordable like UF medical school. Pediatrics is primary patient care, so try to look for schools which have a great program in primary care and also remember one thing, the residency you do counts more than you general knowledge of medicine you get from a particular school. Hope that helps.

Yes. 1. Get a GED. 2. Go to community college. 3. Get a high GPA in community college and transfer to a 4 year university. 4. Do good in that 4 year university (get a high GPA, aim for 3.7 or above) 5. Take the MCAT and score high on it. 6. Apply to as many med schools as you can. If you can get yourself together and get good grades from now on then you still have hope. Many people have done it this way as well, don't listen to some of the morons on here.
