yes u can contact ur frnd on orkut.... one way is, u can invite ur frnd by sending invitation on ur frnd's email id which u have... to do so, open orkut.com ... at bottom of home page on left hand side, is a box to invite frndz. type ur frnd's email id n invite ur frnd.... another method id, on top right of home page, is search box.. type email id of ur frnd on search box n u might get ur frnd's orkut profile...... you can try any way u want..... good luck!!!
