i've got an '01. my car did the same thing about a year ago. i suggest taking it in for a tune up. i can't remember what the exact problem was, but i'm thinking it was just plugs or something simple.
i've got almost 110,000 miles on mine and she's still running like a charm!

Then, just let it. Find a down hill and let it gently roll into the nearest junk yard and let it rest in peace. It only wants to go back to the ground from where it came. It is in pain.
