Why do people keep birds in cages when?

it would be so much prettier too view the birds flying around the trees, and soaring through the sky.

kindof a pointless question if you think about it..i mean.. whats the difference between having a cat as a pet or a bird as a pet-there is none. birds in cages are used as pets-same as all the other animals

It depends on the kind of bird. Domesticated birds couldn't live on their own in the wild. If you keep an eye out, you'll see that there are many beautiful Redbirds, Bluebirds, Finches, eagles, owls, seagulls, etc. etc. flying around wild..........

Because people care more about having them as pets. Sometimes people let them fly around their house. I know I know- it's not the same as freedom. This question kinda made me sad.

Because they are selfish. They wish to continuously have something that's beautiful close to them for their own pleasure, and with a bird the only way is in a cage.
