The ancient Pagans , since he beginning of time worshipped the evergreen tree because they thought it had special fvor of the gods because it stayed green all year , while other trees lost their leaves . The mistletoe was the holiest of the holies because it not only remained green through the Winter , but it's a paracite that taps the host oak tree for its nourishment . The ancients said that it's suspended between heaven and earth , but not connected to either . All of the Pagan traditions were stolen intact by the early Christians , and converted to Christmas .

Mistletoe was holy to the Druids who created Christmas. They used to light the flames on the Christmas Tree the day the sun would start overcoming night again.

Nothing with Christmas, but everything to do with Yule or Saturnalia. The Pagan holiday. The mistletoe survives through the winter and is an inspiration to all of us to work our way through the dark time of the year.

Nothing. Read the lore of Loki and Baldr "For scandinavians, the goddess of love (Frigga) is strongly associated with mistletoe. The link to romance may be where our tradition of kissing under mistletoe comes from" There is just SO much wrong with this. Frigga is not the goddess of love for one thing. She is Odin's wife and is linked to home and hearth and women's works like weaving, sewing, etc. FREYJA is goddess of love and war. She has NO ties to misteltoe what so ever. The only link Frigga has to mistletoe was not getting it's oath to protect her son Baldr. I don't think that is very romantic. Mistletoe isn't "linked" to any of the gods, it is a part of lore. We do not associte plants, rocks or freaking gems to our gods. We are not new age pagan. We do thing the way they were done. If you wish to qoute lore, at least get it right.

Mistletoe represents the sperm of a pagan god...it was used as part of the original pagan festival that was assimilated into what we now call Christmas. So, have fun kissing under the godsperm... EDIT: Oops, forgot my link -- http://crypt.eldritchs.com/bos/wheel/yule.html

It has Pagan roots, like most of the fun Christmas traditions.
