Gymnasts and fans: Could Chellsie Memmel qualify for the AA?

While her B-scores have been a little lower than Shawn and Nastia's, I chalk it up to her comeback, and I think she might qualify ahead of one or both of them. She's upgrading on vault (Yurchenko double), bars (connecting Hindorff to the pak), beam (re-adding Popa, and a possible connection with the aerial cartwheel), AND floor (the 2.5 is becoming a triple for sure, and I heard she was training more whips and leap combinations)...and I definitely think she's a stronger competitor than both of them. I would really like a Nastia/Chellsie all-around, and I think that she's back with a vengeance and you can never count her out. She wants what she missed out on in Athens.

Well if she beat out anyone I'm guessing it would be Nastia, unless of course Shawn's Amanar and her whip - triple-twist get degraded which they might, and she falls off the beam in prelims or something disastrous like that. Nastia is kind of inconsistent. If something happens to Shawn and Nastia and Chellsie get the spots, I wouldn't be surprised if Chellsie pleaded injury and Shawn took her place, think Roza Galiyeva '92. Shawn has a better chance of medaling. But you never know, international judges do like Chellsie and she's improving a lot. But it would be a complete and total shock - and not fair - if Shawn wasn't in the all-around. Then, Martha may put Bridget Sloan in prelims vault instead of Chellsie, in which case Chellsie wouldn't even qualify for AA because she didn't compete it in prelims. But that would be stupid on Martha's part, not having a back-up AA girl [Chellsie] in case Nastia or Shawn really did get hurt and couldn't compete. Sorry, that was really long! But I have a lot of thoughts on that!
