Yes, a baby can be seen. BUT. You should not be having an abdominal x-ray if you could possibly be pregnant. Radiation during the first few months of pregnancy can cause death or deformation. Some of the other answers say NO X-RAYS DURING PREGNANCY! But you can have x-rays, as long as they are not directed at your uterus, and you are shielded adequately. I have done lots of x-rays of pregnant women, such as their hands, ankles, feet, necks, and I have actually done an abdomen x-ray of a woman who was 35 weeks pregnant. A few decades ago they routinely did x-rays of a pregnant woman's pelvis a few weeks before delivery to see if the baby's head could fit through the pelvis smoothly.

Like most have said, you are generally not allowed an x-ray during pregnancy... But, in answer to the actual question - Like us, a baby's bones could be seen through an x-ray but nothing else (such as skin, muscle etc.) This is because, the radiation can go through the body and transfer onto the film behind us, and that is what makes it black. The radiation cannot go through bones due to the density and that's why the stay white... So, you could see a baby's bones through an x-ray but no-one should definitely be having one when pregnant (in place of an ultrasound)! =) All the best...

Sure can through x-ray if you want a dead or deformed kid. Ultrasound is the safest.

You can't have x-rays while you're pregnant. The fetus is still developing, and x-ray radiation can be damaging.

A doctor will never offer you an xray in order to see your baby. If you are pregnant do not have an xray...
