What are some of the positive reasons people wish to take part and become politicians?
What are opinions? If you could, please give examples and be specific, i know that they want to "make a difference", but what else?

To stop evil and incompetent people from winning office because no one else wants such a difficult job.

I think most people do it because they believe they can make a real difference for the better. Once they get in their idealism is quickly eroded by the reality of having to play the "game" of politics.
Some maintain their ideals, most don't seem too.
