How Much Protein After Strength Training Workout?

I weight about 155-160lbs (male). I lift for strength and fitness, and also for a bit of size. I usually consume about 20-25g of whey protein immediately after my workouts. I figure this is about right and most of the protein companies tell you on the tub to take about 40g (2-3 scoops) so you run out quicker and therefore have to buy more. However I want to make sure im not short-changing myself. I consume enough protein throughout the day, im talking about post-workout consumption. Is 20-25g a good amount? Thanks

Your protein intake is fine - add to this about 40g of fast digesting carbs and you are set. Good luck!!

I am about your size (145-150) and I wrestled and ran XC in college. That is a good amount of protein for an after work-out intake. The body, especially people our size, can only digest so much. The rest is waste. With your size try to consumer 220-250g/protein per day (as much as possible from real food, supplement only for immediate intake such as after-workout)

30g is what I take and I'm about 10 pounds heavier than you, 25 is more where you should be aiming rather than the 20.
