how do i get my motivation back?

seriously school and my grades used to be my main priority. my grades only started getting bad last year when i was really depressed. thing is, compared to last year i feel a lot better. though i wouldn't say i'm not depressed. but now it seems i've lost all motivation for school. the only reason i cared before was because i wanted to grow up and become something. to have a great job ...and stuff. now i really dont give a crap. i can't imagine the future. the only reason i even bother to go is for my parents. i'm there last chance at having a kid who graduates high school. i dont bother with homework. i do my work at school, except when i feel angsty then i dont even bother. and once i lose interest in something its pretty much a lost cause. what i want to know is how do i get my motivation back?? because at this rate i'm probably going to fail this year. in fact i'm already failing about half of my classes. <(0x0)>

I totally know how it feels, im 22 now but when i was age 15-19 i got really bad depression, tried anti-depressants and it was horrible, i ended up feeling worse. I feel great now and i'll tell you why....exercise, good diet, exercise - that is what the doctor should have prescribed me, not drugs! good luck hope you feel better soon. Chris

First off what happened to you that caused you to lose interest and be depressed? You still have your whole life set out for you, you make it what it is. Think of it this way if you don't graduate that is on your record for the rest of your life and you will get held back another year right back where you started. No diploma...no job...no job..no moving out of your parents house because you won't be able to pay rent and last but not least no money. How much would it mean to you to be handed that diploma and see how proud your family would be of you? Don't think so negative think on the bright side you still have a chance to make something of yourself and not have to be put through this again. If your depressed see a doctor they can give you something for that. High school can be frustrating but this is so important, why stay another year and do it again? Why not finish it and be proud of yourself that you were the only one that is going to be something one day. If I were you I would get my butt back on track and talk to your teachers and see if you can do some kind of extra credit or re-do your homework. You decide! Think about it.....Your future...Your life.

I think that many of us (myself included) seek motivation from outside sources such as music, mid altering substances, or other people. These things and other outside sources make one dependent on others and other things in order to move around in life, which is no good in my opinion. I think the read, true motivation comes from the self that is underneath all the thoughts and feeling we experience which actually hinder us and sometimes sap our motivation. When you think about a time that you had to do something you didn't particularly want to do and felt you didn't have the physical energy until you listened to a certain song and suddenly you found the power to accomplish the task you realize that a good deal of our perceived weakness is in the mind. If outside things can motivate us then outside things can also slow us down. I think that the thing to work on is motivation from within, and maybe not so much motivation as realization- that mind can overcome most of what we perceive to be holding us back in the form of tiredness or lethargy, or even depression.

the shame. the embarrassment. watching all your friends graduate, while you didnt get enough credits to graduate. Being held back another year really sucks. Because im sure your ready to go to college. Learning all the random stuff at school that seems useless actually isnt. A lot of it relates to politics. The spanish is used for the 400,000 people who speak spanish in the US. English is for the vocab required when you do speeches or presentations in your real future job. Math is kind of useless, but it is important for testing. Which colleges look at.

thats's hard to do. I guess you should just do the school to motivate you to get the hell out of there.
