Please help.... this is VERY Urgent?
I am set for a "Deposition" ( being questioned by a lawyer because I am being sued for infringmant. I spelled it wrong on purpose.
I am married and 22 my dad doesn't know I am married.
Do you think one of the interrogatory question will be If Im single or married?
My Dad will also be questioned to see if the answers match up.
If I say No im not married and they ask my dad he will obv. say no shes not as well.
Do you think they looked up this information about me?
Or I could say this is not relevant I pleed the 5th. But then I would look like im hiding it.
Or I could say Yes while my dad is not in the room and if they ask my dad if im married he would say no and this would be a confusion.
What should I Do? The main thing is Im not ready to tell my dad i am married to an immigrant yet. At least not under all this lawsuit stress!

Be truthful, give short answers,do not give more information than is necessary.I would strongly expect to be asked that question. They will want to prove you nefarious any way they can.Remember that this is a civil suit not a criminal one they will have to go with the preponderance of evidence.Which means if you can prove them wrong bring as much evidence as you can.The strongest evidence one way or the other has the best chance of winning.

If you have been subpoenaed for a lawsuit why would your dad be asked questions to see if they match up? Unless he has been subpoenaed he shouldn't have to ask any other questions. And unless your marriage has anything to do with the deposition, then I don't think you can be asked that. Your best bet is to ask a lawyer, not an open forum like this.

I think you should just tell your dad you are married, after all what can he do about it now? its done he can't change that.
