Woman's undergarment usually made from two pieces of fabric sewn together at the shoulders and sides. It can be collarless and sleeveless. Often worn between the body and the corset, the chemise was made of linen, lawn, or silk. During the 19th century (1800's) it was modified to become a blouse.
