In terms of picture quality, Plasma. In terms of practicality, LCD. In terms of price per diagonal inch, DLP. First off if you want a tv under 42 inches you'll have to to with LCD, also if you have an extremely bright room and mainly play games you'll probably want to go with LCD as well. But if you mainly watch movies/sports/tv you'll want to get Plasma, and if you just want a huge screen(60"+) you'll want to get a DLP, preferably an LED back-lit one as they don't require bulb replacements. And also burn in really isn't an issue with Plasma's anymore, they also a lot cooler now and still produce the best image quality available, and if your getting plasma I'd recommend getting a Panasonic or if you have the money Pioneer. If your getting LCD I'd recommend Samsung, Sony or Sharp Aqaous and for DLP Samsung/Mitsubishi.

In general, the LCD will have a brighter screen, will weigh much less, and will use less electrical power. It also does not have the image burn-in that can happen to a CRT or plasma display. Its downside is a limited viewing angle and a bit of blurring on fast action, such as a long pass in football. The only advantage of the plasma set is a wide viewing angle. Its glossy screen also reflects light from your lamps or window sunlight; that's much less a problem on LCDs. In my opinion, there is no advantage to DLP other than some models might be very inexpensive. Bottom line: my purchase choice was a 46 inch Samsung LCD and I'd do it again.

LCD, plasmas reflect the light in the room back at you, like a mirror, they are also warmer to the touch than lcd's.
