will a shower pull cord switch withstand regular use?

my house mates seem to think that it needs pulling before and after every shower (i.e. its isolated except for during showering ). As far as i know, it is simply for isolating in emergencies etc. Will using it so regularly cause damage?

It wont really make a lot of difference . When you pull the cord it allows the supply to the water heater, a red light comes on . You then switch on the water heater etc. Hardly any current is passing through the pull cord switch until you turn on your water heater. It is not for emergency use, It is needed to isolate the shower heater if work is ever required on it.
