just caught a worm snake, can anyone help?
Hello. I was just curious: i recently caught a worm snake. i just wanted to know if i could use a heat pad( it sticks to the bottom on the outside) for him. ps i have him in a reptile glass cage with water, a small log, and dirt. 10 points for the best answer! thanks

some states your not allowed to catch and keep snakes. just warning you. and yea but youll need more than that as the heat pad wont put off the right amount of heat you need for it. a heat pads good for the bottom as snakes need a warm belly to digest food. a heat lamp youll need for the rest of the tank. well for the warm side of it. heat pads only heat up the floor. if you dug a hole outside and put the dirt in the tank take it out. if you want this snake to be healthy then buy it aspen bedding or reptile bark. or you can just use newspaper. I never read on a worm snake but im guessing they probably like to tunnel under the ground. so aspen bedding would be your best option. dirt has all kinds of parasites in it that could harm it. thats why i recommend you take it out. do some reasearch on care sheets and things for your snake. it should help you out more.

What? You're worried that it's a "baby" and can't take care of itself? Worm snakes are among the smallest snake species there are and are VERY difficult to keep in captivity even for someone who knows what they're doing.
Put it back underneath whatever rock or log you found it under, because that's probably where it's spent it's entire life.
If you want a snake, do some research and buy a captive bred specimen.

mannn snakes r awsome pets but
u should rele put it back cuz:
its illegal
if its over one year old, it will NOT get acustomed to its surroundings and it IS going to die in captivity extremely soon [1-2 weeks]
almost anything u put in its cage is going to become toxic to it if it comes in contact with ANYTHING or ANYTHING WITH A TRACE of unorganic materials.
the oils on your skin are poisonous to it. touching him is like giving him poison.
it could have diseases n get U sick
if something in its cage begins to rot, the snake cant escape from the roting fumes, and will get sick & die :[
sorry, get 1 from the animal shelter or petstore!
they are easier to handle, safer, and are ment to be pets. ur snake...honestly if u dont put it back is not going to live much longer.

In many states it is illegal to steal wild animals from their natural habitat. Release it and buy a captive bred snake instead of helping make another species get one step closer to extinction

ya let it go! wild snakes don't do well in captivity, especially if their captor knows nothing about snakes or their care requirements.

If you keep the snake, it will die. it's that simple. Just release it and let it live the life it was meant to live.

Once that happened in my house. they are venomless and usually come when you are near open forests. You will be fine if you feed it and put it in a enclosed place
