Women, do you want a man that is smarter than yourself?

I think women value intelligence in a guy, to the point where the man must be on the same intellectual level as her, or even smarter.

I've found most girls do. There is nothing that depresses a woman like a stupid male. Plus, a great deal of female attraction is based on admiration. You can't have admiration for a man who is less clever than you are, regardless of how you choose to measure it (I'm sure what they call smart in Bel Air is not what they call smart in Oakland).

I know this not so smart man that is an extremely hardworker. He bought his wife 2 big dodge pickups and his daughter a new 2008 Honda car and has his wife a very big house. He has absolutely no brains whatsoever! But is a super hardworking man! That's all a woman needs. A Hardworking Husband thats works very hard for the money. He works like 12 hours a day with no breaks in between, straight no days off. Some women or wives are definitely very blessed-very lucky with hardworking guys like that.

I think it's important to be about the same level of intelligence. Dumber is frustrating, and a lot smarter plays with your self-esteem. I think you can have better conversations and more common interests if your intelligence levels are similar. I once dated a guy who had about the same level of intelligence as I. But, it was important to him to be the smart one in the relationship, so he was unhappy when I knew stuff he didn't expect me to know or I knew an answer on Jeopardy! before he did. It annoyed the bejeesus out of me and we eventually broke up.

Intelligence is difficult to measure. Tell me, who is smarter? The guy who name the make and model of every car he sees? Or the woman who knows how to maintain a vegetable garden? Or a man who knows all the Supreme Court justices? Or a woman who can add figures in her head? The measure of ntelligence is subjective. I've never met a man who knows everything I know, and I've never known everything the guy knows. Therefore I can't say if I want a man who is 'smarter' than myself. I want him to know some things but I don't expect him to know it all.

My husband is honestly the first guy that I've been with that's on my level. It's good for several reasons but I actually HATE the fact that he's smart enough to go toe to toe with me in an argument. I ALWAYS used to win before!
