hey everyone, alright im flying home to see my family on monday for a couple weeks and my OB said there is no problem that you can fly up until about 36 weeks...however, my sister in law who is also pregnant was told by her OB that she cant fly because something about the altitude is not safe for baby...is this true?? i know a few ppl who have flown while pregnant and ive never heard of the altitude thing before..what do you think?? thanks!

You can fly in a pressurized airplane until the last couple of months. (And at that point, the problem isn't that flying is inherantly unsafe, but that airlines won't allow you to fly, in case you go into labor early.)

I flew when I was about 7 months pregnant. Other than not fitting in the seat, I had no problems.
I got lots of silly, sympathetic, dirty, and odd looks, but other than that, no big deal.
My doctor did tell me that I would be more susceptible to being light headed or the affects of altitude changes because my body was "off balance" to begin with being pregnant. I just had to stand up slowly, and make sure I didn't get dizzy. I don't remember it being a big problem.
Good luck!

I flew right up until my 9th month. You will need a note from your ob-gyn to board some flights though! If you are on an international flight make sure to get up and go to the bathroom just to stretch your legs!
