Separation of church and state Disaster?

With the looks of things I think that the people who wanted to keep religion out of the public eye are seeing what happens . When Christmas is not the big buying season of the year and maybe just maybe the holidays will be on a deaths door step in years to come Won't the retail market love that idea No more Christmas season cause you got to keep those Happy Holiday greetings at home and not at the check out in the store . Pay back time is being seen now what do you think

Christians will always see the holidays for what they are, The celebration of the birth of the Christ. My actions this year have been when I go into a store and say Marry Christmas if I don't get a Marry Christmas back I just leave.

Separation of crazy religion and the law of the land has to be separate. Or we would end up as Iraq, beheading women's rights activists to satisfy religions made up by crazy old men. If you are looking for someone to blame for the economy, look no further than the politicians and their quest for pointless war. Happy Holidays for whatever reason.

I think what you just described has nothing to do with the separation of Church and State. Private stores and companies are free to do whatever they want - including promoting Christmas. The only reason they don't is because they have customers from all different religions and don't want to offend them. The Separation of Church and State - as the name implies - ONLY applies to the government and government funded institutions and programs.

This is a simple confusing of causation and correlation. The retail market is bad now because people don't spend money when their financial institutions continuously let them down...not because of a holiday greeting message.

Bush screwed up the economy big time! That is why there is no money for Christmas! Maybe people will remember it is supposed to be about family,. and NOT seeing how much loot you get!

Stores don't have anything to do with the state. They make their employees say "Happy Holidays" because cashiers generally aren't mind-readers and don't know the religion of every one of the patrons. It's simply a way to be polite. If you have a problem with cashiers being polite to people of faiths different than yours, then I have a feeling you're just looking for an excuse to be confrontational and/or miserable.

Christmas is not the big buying season this year because of the poor economy. "State" in church and state refers to the courts, schools, etc. Not shopping. How is this a disaster?

the retail market isn't doing so hot because the economy is bad and no one has any money. it has nothing to do with holiday greetings edit: fine, go ahead blame non christians. we don't care. the truth of the matter is obvious
