no i don't like nicknames XP i feel like i'll get tired of them later or when they evolve that the name won't suit them anymore. Some nicknames are also kinda stupid (yes i take my pokemon seriously =P) they need to make a simile face that both sticks it's tongue out and smiles.

Sure, it's fun to give nickname to your pokemon. Back when I was young and love the game, I always give nickname to the 6 pokemon that I use. I think it kind of give a sense of you in it and special I guess.

OH YES my pkmn in DIAMOND & PEARL,,EXPLORERS OF TIME & RED RESCUE have names some are weird...yeah having the original name is BORING

At first, I didn't...
However, I found it useful, because it slightly throws off your opponent on what your are calling out. Plus...it makes 'em unique!
