Is bronchitis contagious for babies?
We have family coming to visit for Xmas Eve and their 6 month old baby has bronchitis and we also have a 4 month old baby. Is bronchitis contagious and will my baby be more susceptible to get it? Im worried cuz i want the family to come over but i don't want all of us to get it, especially my baby.

Yes. Change your plans. Please don't take that chance with your baby. There will be many more holidays.
God bless you and your family.

Is Bronchitis Contagious To Infants

Bronchitis is definitely contagious for babies. But, as one of the other wise members said, the other child should have been on antibiotics if they were diagnosed with bronchitis. If they have not had the antibiotics for 48 hours, I would postpone the visit till New Year's. You and your family have enough stress with a 4 month old baby. Enjoy your holidays with your family and love your friends from afar if there's a risk of infecting your family.
Be blessed! Have a wonderful holiday season, precious

Yes bronchitis is contagious. However, I'm assuming with the bronchitis diagnosis that the doctor gave the baby some antibiotics? Usually after 24-48 hours on antibiotics, a person is no longer contagious.

what is it? bronchitis is a viral infection( usually caused by respiratory syncytial virus-rsv) most severe in premature babies and infants less than one year of age. It causes nasal congestion, mucous production and swelling in the lung airways, the child may wheeze, cough and work harder to breathe. The virus is contagious, it is spread by sneezing or coughing. Good hand washing is always important. Adults and older children may become infected with the virus, but usually only get a mild cold. Your baby sister will only have this illness for approximately 7 to 15 days. to answer your question? no it can not harm your unborn baby, it's basially a cold with a little more side effects...... nothing at all to worry about

Mr. Bubbles!
Separate the babies, bronchitis is very contagious, and babies usually have lower immune systems.

I already knew the answer, but asked my Chief of Obstetrics, and we agree that it is contagious, and yes it is possible that you may get a mild to moderate cold, but there is no harm to the baby in utero.

Try to avoid contact with that baby, especially you if you get germs and touch your baby they'll get it too.
Be careful.
Good luck.
